West Coast 1.52
Bombers 2.50

Think West Coast will be big improvers this year and will probably make a push for the 8.

Probably will be just sitting back watching most the NAB Cup though unless I spot some good value in the Underdogs.

Anyone having a punt Round 1?

No bets NAB Cup for me. Will definitely be stepping in round 1 - Can't wait!!!

Agreed Crawf, Eagles could push this year.

WCE should be able to do the job tonight but Im taking the +24.5 to be safe and putting them into Port Adelaide +24.5 at about evens. Port have had a real long pre season after a disappointing 2009, they will be looking at this game as a chance to hit the ground running, had the opportunity to talk with a crows players yesterday and Im not convinced they will be going 100% at the NAB cup coming off a heavy preseason. Think Port at worst can get within 4 goals of the Crows.

WCE +24.5 into Port Adelaide +24.5

It feels like the NAB Cup came around quicker than usual this year.

Dutchy, was it you who tried the blind underdog strategy last year successfully? Might be worth having another crack at that.

Nice start last night with the Eagles getting up.

Does anyone have any link to past NAB CUP results?

IMO the qtr finals is a good week to make money as you get a few upsets with some teams wanting to taper before the season proper and others like the Blues, Tigers etc wanting to go on.

With that said from semi-finals time onwards form guides from previous seasons can be used to gauge winners as the opportunity to play off in a GF presents itself.

What kind of ROI do you guys aim for?

Over the full course of an AFL season I would be happy with 10% ROI Ferris. I would consider anymore a bonus.

Collingwood near full strength, do a lot of their heavy training early in their preseason and have a good recent record in the NAB cup, should win tonight.

Collingwood Win
1.30 @ $1.77

Futures Bet
Yes I know Im a Roos fan but those that know me know I dont back them often, in 2010 they have a new coach and yes usually I like to see a coach in charge for 12 months before backing them, but there is something to like about the Roos in 2010. They have a developing midfield around some experience, their backline is as solid as ever and IMO will be one of the best in the business in a couple of years, their forward line also looks solid with Petrie going to remain there all year will be a huge plus as he develops into one of the premiere players in the league. The draw is fantastic, only playing 2 of the top 9 from 2009 twice certainly opens up the opportunity to get more wins than losses if Scott can get the team to gel. This is also the first full preseason for 3 years with no finals in 2009. IMO to make the 8 the Roos should be under $4.00, therefore value at $6.00, going to take them for $100 now and then look again after Round 2 when they maybe 0-2 and invest again. I firmly believe at some stage they will be much shorter than $6.00 so a LAY off opportunity will arise.

North Melbourne to make the Top 8
1 Unit @ $6.00

Collingwood couldnt kick straight, bet was the right one, these things you cant control, anyway got to take the points here for the Roos, they should be up and about while not sure how hard the Cats will go...

Correct call Dutchy.

As long as the analysis is sound, then in the long run you will always be ahead. There is always going to be anomalies in predicting results, the bottom line when a team that loses by less than a couple of kicks, luck is a factor.

The beauty of punting.

Dogs are around 1.40 on Betfair against the Power. If the books open up at this price, we can expect a line in the 15.5-18.5 point range. I wasn't going to bet the NAB Cup, but I think the Dogs will smash Port on Friday night.

What do you guys think - how serious are the remaining 4 teams going to be taking this week?

looking on how sydney played last week against St. kilda and both were keen to win . How port trashed WCE in Subi and how Freo won their game against NM. I am thinking the remaining teams are serious,

all 4 underdogs covered ATS last week ( 3 won SU) . it looks like NAB cup become a big chance for second grade players to show that they worth playing in real competition and hence most players do the best they can.
