Just to add to what Jimmy said about money management taking some of the stress out of punting - it couldn't be more true. I've witnessed that myself this year and probably learnt from a few mistakes I've made. While I had a good run early I was probably betting too hard (at over 2.5% of my bank) and naturally the variance turned against me and i had a bad run putting me in the red for the first time. After a serious hard look at myself and my punting methods I decided to reduce the amount I was betting each week while betting on fewer games as well. From this I have managed to get myself well into the black this year. However the moral of the story for me is: if i had stuck to a strict strategy of flat stake betting like I am now from the start of the season, my profit would be twice the amount it is. This is my 3rd year as a punter and I'm still learning all the time.

Yeah TF i hve been a pro punter for 5-6 yrs and i have always flat betted the whole time, there r many diff types like kelly method etc but i always preach to people that flat betting the safest and best way to attack the punt.
Too many times i see people pick 3 out of winners on the weekend lose money cause there only loss was a bet 5 times more then the others and they lose money even though they picked 75% winners.
Flat betting is the best way to go no doubt and if u r good enough at finding 55% winners u will make a good profit.
Money management is the most important part of punting by a long way and i have seen too many people lose money cause they lack this skill
there r no quick rich schemes with the punt, its a hard long fight but u can make it if u follow certain rules and disiplines. |
